1995 TRIMAG was originally founded in Haley, Ontario, Canada.
2002 A new manufacturing facility was built in Boisbriand, Québec, Canada.
2010 TRIMAG was acquired by Qinghai Salt Lake Group. All assests were relocated to Xi'Ning, China.
2021 A second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility was built in Ma'An Shan, China. Focus on 3500 tons large pieces production.

Qinghai Salt Lake Group (QSLG) was founded in 1959. With the largest salt lake (Qarhan Playa) in the backyard, QSLG become one of the largest chemical manufacturers in China, with over 18,000 employees.
There are FOUR major elements in Qarhan Playa. Sodium, Potassium, Lithium and Magnesium, constitute the FOUR major industrial clusters of QSLG.
There are two major processing for making Magnesium metal. The most popular method known as Pidgeon Processing is widely used for most Magnesium metal production nowadays. The other method, that QSLG use, is molten salt electrolysis. Compare with Pidgeon Processing, electrolysis has better energy efficiency and less carbon emission.
Qarhan Playa has 1.65 billion tons of MgCl2 in reserve. We extract MgCl2 from brine and concentrate it to a certain concentration. Then, a unique dehydration process will remove the extra water from MgCl2. Following electrolysis processing will then produce Magnesium metal and Chlorine gas.
QSLG has closed-loop processing which will use Cl2 gas to produce PVC in the associated plant. So, 100% of Magnesium electrolysis side products will be re-used. The entire process has no emissions. The capacity of Magnesium metal is 100,000 tons per year.
